1642-1651 Royalist Ensign

Description

This is the costume of a Royalist Ensign Officer from the English Civil War (1642-1651). The style of clothes worn suggests that this is an early war study. The long Doublet has the typical open front sleeves of the early 17th Century and the Breeches tie closed just below the knee. The Officer has heavy leather riding boots with spurs. For protection the steel Cuirass is being worn over which an identifying sash is tied. The officers sword is a privately purchased Rapier.
